Title: DNA Unwinding Proteins at the Replication Fork

Abstract: I am a student of the biomedical visualization department at UIC. As a student in the biomedical visualization program, scientific knowledge, which involves, but not limited to, physiology and anatomy is translated visually. The image submitted shows DNA unwinding proteins at the replication fork. It is my goal as a medical artist to be able to show scientific concepts in an aesthetically appealing way. The goal of this particular image was to help visualize this concept at the molecular level which would never be able to be seen with the human eye. The image was created with the software program 3d Studio Max. In the future I hope to be able to create more images which help explain science and medicine, or at least give viewers inspiration when visually interpreting difficult scientific concepts.
